WIND XILOPHONE

VOLTERRA VERSION 1992 Wooden
four meter high structures which were played by the wind. Each one emits
only five notes in a fixed in advance sequence: their own melodies vary,
however, depending on the duration and the strength of the wind.
A
rudder orientate each woodenxilophone so that it can turn according
with the direction of wind. So the woodenxilophone can be also acoustic
revealers of the direction of the wind.
Since
their level of sound is like the speech one, the woodenxilophones give
us informations about the acoustic pollution too: they can be heard
only where there is enough silence.
